The box of the ADATA S511 120GB SSD is a small almost square white box with ADATA’s trademark colorful Humming Bird Logo. The front of the box advertises the size of the drive directly from the sticker on the front of the drive through a small clear plastic window. The model of drive is listed as well as its compatibility with the SATA II interface. Also noted on the front of the box is the fact that this drive ships with a 3.5” adapter bracket and disk migration software. It also advertises that the drive has a three year warranty.

The rear of the box lists some specifications in several languages. Also listed is the corporate headquarters location address and phone number. Last there is a small sticker that lists the seq. read as up to 550MB/s and seq. write up to 510MB/s with highly compressible data such as documents and also gives us the specifications for incompressible multimedia transfers of reads at up to 500MB/s and writes of up to 170MB/s. We appreciate ADATA’s forth coming with this information about what to expect with incompressible data. This is exactly what to expect from any top tier 120GB SandForce Sync drive but not all drive manufacturers tell the consumer this they usually leave it up to the consumer to find out on their own. So Kudos to ADATA for this info right on the box.

Inside the box the drive is placed in a clear plastic spacer. Also found in the box is a 3.5” adapter bracket and directions on how to download the Acronis Disk Migration Utility and quick install instructions. The drive does not come with a SATA cable. The inclusion of a premium disk migration utility and adapter bracket with this drive definitely brings to the table one of the very best values we have ever seen in a drive like this.

Let’s take a closer look at the drive itself.
