While the ARS60 isn’t our normal style of Bluetooth speaker that we see in terms of design, and is missing the bells and whistles like a speakerphone, it does have a unique petite, hour-glass look to it. The ARS60 is compatible with any Bluetooth device including iOS and Android powered devices such as iPhones, iPads, tablets, and more. It is even compatible with desktops and gaming consoles which include Bluetooth interfaces. The ARS60 remembers the last 8 devices that have been paired reducing the hassle of constantly re-connecting.
From a distance of 10 meters (33ft), the exceptional sound quality and hands free controls for both your music and your phone will surprise you with this device. This speaker might be big, but it’s not afraid to make itself known. The dual 16w (8w each) speakers and the bass reflex system had no issues delivering excellent sound quality to your party.
The battery is a 700 mAh NiMH rechargeable battery that lasts 12 hours depending on volume level, which is longer than Acoustic Research claimed. There is a power saving mode and after 10 minutes of inactivity, the unit will power down. At the time of the review, the speaker was found for $99.99 USD with an included 1 year manufacturers warranty. Considering the quality and durability of this speaker, this is still a great buy and a great price. I would easily recommend this speaker as a home use or bookshelf speaker in the $100-125 price range. The Acoustic Research ARS60 earns our PureOverclock Great Hardware award.
