Summary

The ABS Dark Beret 1000W is a power supply that delivers solid features and good performance when heavily loaded with a case full of power-hungry components.  From a feature standpoint, the accessories included in this package are well done, there is a great assortment of sleeved modular cables that support triple SLI/CrossFire setups, and an easy-to-use and colour-coded modular connection design is employed.

From a functional standpoint, the Dark Beret 1000W boasts good voltage regulation, an 80 PLUS Bronze efficiency rating, and a quiet operation. The only detractions here are that the cable lengths could be slightly longer (particularly for the PCIe cables) and when heavily loaded the 12V rail measurements dropped a bit more than we’d prefer to see from a kilowatt unit.

That being said, however, perhaps the most attractive feature of the Dark Beret 1000W is its price: we found it online at Newegg for about $130 USD, which is an extremely good deal and is one of the least expensive kilowatt units you can find on the market. The Dark Beret 1000W is a good all-round power supply in an attractive package of features and functionality.  If you are on a tight budget but need a kilowatt power supply, the ABS Dark Beret 1000W should be on your shortlist.
