DREVO’s Ultimate Keyboard Destroyed Kickstarter Goal – I don’t Understand it
I recently received an email for a Kickstarter project from Drevo, claiming they have the Ultimate gaming keyboard. Needless to say, that caught my attention, but looking through the campaign information didn’t convince me that I was looking at the Ultimate keyboard. Don’t get me wrong, it looks like a nice product. I just can’t wrap my head around how a scroll wheel on the left side of the board revolutionizes gaming in some special way.The “Genius-Knob” has some neat features for sure. You can click, or double click the entire knob inwards like a mouse button. You can also scroll it forwards and backwards. In the promotional videos, they show it allowing a gamer to control other in-game actions like using bandages, or swapping weapons. (Sorry, I just heard Bane from Borderlands 2) I’m not opposed to the concept, I’m just having a hard time seeing the real benefit when it requires moving your hand off of WASD. Even when doing PVE missions in Destiny 2, I don’t ever take my hand off of my movement keys, especially in combat. Of course, I don’t use macros to begin with and that could be my problem.Regardless, the Drevo BladeMaster campaign has currently reached over $30k, well above it’s originally requested $20k goal. It still has 58 days to go!!! That’s incredibly impressive and I have to admit, the keyboard looks like a great product. It has an advanced lighting scheme, wireless connectivity options, and the appearance of some really good quality. Let us know in the forums what you think of the Genius-Knob though. I can’t see it having a practical value, but I’d really like to get feedback from other gamers. I doubt a keyboard campaign reached over $30k in about a day without having a good reason.
