October News Round Up: SWIFTECH Apogee XL2, GAMER STORM Genome II, GTX 1050 Ti and More!
Does anyone remember INTEL talking up the greatness of Optane? It looks like it’s really coming and the performance looks pretty good. At first glance, you might get disappointed considering the SAMSUNG 960 Pro is blowing everyone out of the water. On the other hand, most new products start small and grow exponentially in the first years. Considering how fast Optane memory is at the start, I can see this being very competitive once INTEL works out the bugs and optimizes speed even more. However, if it follows the trend of recent CPU releases that have marginal 10-15% performance increases, then the 960 Pro will continue the trend of leading SAMSUNG to storage domination.
We have some new RGB gaming keyboards and the first one comes from COUGAR. With a raised key design and a steel top panel, the Ultimus RGB Mechanical looks like a beast of a keyboard. I still haven’t found out what type of switch it’s using, but I certainly hope it’s using Cherrys.
I saw this tweet and thought, “Mmmm, that does look tasty!”
…And here's another RGB-flavoured pic of the ROG Claymore. Mmm, tasty pic.twitter.com/wFs0rYPdNZ

Once again, WCCFTech has a good round up of everything that was announced at the Microsoft event earlier this week. Most of it is software related, but the new Surface Book caught my attention. With an i7 CPU and a GTX 965M GPU, this guy would make a pretty good 1080p gaming machine. You just have to get past that blistering $2,399 introductory price that can climb all the way to a scorching $3,299 wallet-disintegrating meltdown. The device is aimed at professionals for work purposes, not gaming though.
That’s all for our round up this month. Keep checking in with PureOC each month so you can keep up with the greatest news!
