Team.AU Go Sub-Zero At Respawn LAN with Gigabyte and Intel

Melbourne, Australia: Over the weekend of September 21st and 22nd, Team.AU demonstrated the new Intel Core i7 4000-series “Ivy Bridge-E” enthusiast processor at RespawnLAN v28 using liquid nitrogen (-196°C) based cooling. The demonstration utilised Intel X79 based motherboards from GIGABYTE, graphics by NVIDIA and memory, power supplies and storage by Corsair. The Team.AU extreme overclockers also continued to explore the Intel Core i7 4000-series “Haswell” consumer platform based on GIGABYTE motherboards using the Intel Z87 chipset. Using a system based on the new Intel Core i7 4960X “Ivy Bridge-E” processor, Team.AU demonstrated the increase in processing efficiency in this next generation Core i7 6-core CPU. This new fastest enthusiast desktop processor on the market showed a clear dominance in the CPU and Physics scores of benchmarks such as 3DMark11, 3DMark Vantage and 3DMark06, showing off the multi-threaded power of the new Ivy Bridge-E micro-architecture. The Team.AU members in attendance, James “Youngpro” Trevaskis, Dino “Dinos22” Strkljevic and Carl “SniperOZ” Hollingsworth ran the Intel Core i7 4960X just over 5.5GHz using the extreme sub-zero temperatures possible using liquid nitrogen. System Specifications Used: 1x Intel Core i7 4960X @ 5.5GHz 1x GIGABYTE GA-X79-UP4 with X01 BIOS 1x NVIDIA GIGABYTE GTX 780 OC @ 1200MHz 1x Corsair Platinum 2666 Quad Channel RAM @ DDR3-2646 9-12-12-21 2T 1...

Lian Li Releases the PC-10N Mid Tower Chassis in North America

Side Mounted Radiator Support and Railing Motherboard Tray Design 24 September 2013, Keelung, Taiwan – Lian-Li Industrial Co. Ltd today releases a new brushed aluminum mid tower chassis with side mounted radiator support, PC-10N, in North America. Besides allowing for a 240mm radiator to be placed on a hinged bracket, the PC-10N forgoes the traditional motherboard tray, and instead implements a railing mount design for increased thermal performance and better cable management. Side Mounted 240mm Radiator Support A hinged bracket directly across the CPU allows DIY builders to install a 240mm radiator in the PC-10N. The bracket secured by thumbscrews can be swung open on its hinge to allow for easy access of the internal components. Railing Mount Motherboard Tray Lian Li’s railing mount technology greatly improves airflow under the motherboard, helping systems run cooler. This design replaces the traditional solid motherboard tray which can block airflow and adds to system weight and cost. The railing system also provides better routing options for internal wiring and cables, reducing clutter, improving system appearance and further improving airflow. Tool-Less Hard Drive Installation Hard drives can be tool-lessly installed in the PC-10N. The six 3.5” drives and one 2.5” drive are secured in the two HDD cages by quick-access thumbscrews with rubber suspensions to greatly reduce irritating noise and vibrations. An additional 2.5” can be installed using four...

New TP-LINK Power-Over-Ethernet 8-Port Gigabit Switch Offers Network Expansion With 75% Power Savings

CITY OF INDUSTRY, CA (September 24, 2013) – TP-LINK, a global provider of networking products, today announced a new Plug-N-Play fully enabled 8-port PoE+ (Power over Ethernet Plus) gigabit desktop/rackmount switch, offering a simple and eco-friendly means to expand an existing wired network. The TL-SG1008PE transfers electrical power along with data in a single ethernet cable, allowing users to expand their network to hard-to-power locations. The 124W total power budget is perfect for users that need to extend their network to IP surveillance cameras, IP phones, access points, or other PoE+ enabled devices. Most competing 8-port PoE switches provide power to only four of the eight ports, significantly limiting usability. The TL-SG1008PE expands this limit by supplying power to any IEEE 802.3af/at compliant device across all eight available ports. The built-in priority function protects the system in the event of a power overload and is intuitively arranged according to the number of each port, one being the highest priority and eight being the lowest. If all connected devices consume power that is greater than or equal to 124W, the switch will cut off power from the lowest-priority port, preserving the functionality of the most essential devices. With its Plug-N-Play design, no additional configuration or management is required to install the TL-SG1008PE. It can be placed on a desktop or fitted to any standard 1U rack with its 13-inch steel case. Its innovative, ene...
