Fountain Valley, CA — June 12, 2013– Kingston Technology Company, Inc., the independent world leader in memory products, today announced it has joined the Open Data Center Alliance™ (ODCA), an independent consortium comprised of global IT leaders working together to define and deliver a unified set of common standards and the highest level of interoperability for data centers and cloud computing. Kingston® joins the Alliance as a solutions provider member and is a breakfast sponsor at the upcoming Forecast 2013, held on June 17−18, 2013, in San Francisco, Calif.

Founded in 2010, the ODCA is made up of over 300 worldwide member companies, representing over $100B in annual IT spending. The consortium is led by senior IT executives from some of the world’s most recognized organizations including BMW, China Unicom, Deutsche Bank, JPMorgan Chase, Lockheed Martin, Marriott International, Inc., National Australia Bank, Terremark, Disney Technology Solutions and Services and UBS.

“ODCA is the global organization where hundreds of IT experts from around the world are working together to develop requirements for enterprise cloud and big data implementations that are open, interoperable and secure,” said Marvin Wheeler, executive director, Open Data Center Alliance. “We welcome the expertise Kingston brings to ODCA as a solutions provider member and as a sponsor contributing to the success of Forecast 2013.”

“We’re excited to join the ODCA as it has attracted such a diverse group of industry elites —customers, vendors and service providers — all sharing the same passion and commitment in driving future innovations for data center and cloud computing initiatives,” said Sim Phengdara, server memory business manager, Kingston. “For more than two decades, Kingston has been the memory provider of choice for some of the biggest companies in the world. Just as customers must embrace and manage the massive data sets and requirements of today, we need to support these initiatives to help them maximize efficiencies from both a performance and cost perspective. As a member of the Alliance, we can continue to be a part of the community that helps define and drive open data center architecture standards.”

Kingston helps organizations handle big data initiatives with its DRAM server memory solutions and enterprise-class solid-state drives. ValueRAM® Server Premier uses a locked Bill of Materials (BOM) that is ideal for white-box builds or systems requiring a consistent brand or revision of DRAM.

In March 2013, CRN named the Kingston SSDNow E100 enterprise SSD as one of its “ 5 Top-Notch Picks” for the Data Center. The drive’s higher endurance and reliability, along with higher IOPS, make it an integral part of a data center where uninterrupted 24/7 operation is mission critical. E100 was also part of a recent virtualized database performance test, where it was compared to traditional hard-disk drives. The test found that replacing a server solution consisting of 24 HDDs with only six internal SSDs “increased total database performance by up to 91.8 percent.”

Kingston is celebrating 25 years in the memory industry. The company was founded on October 17, 1987, and has grown to become the largest third-party memory manufacturer in the world.
