Nividia Adds New Features with 270 Drivers

Posted March 30, 2011 by Jake in Industry

Nvidia will be releasing a Beta version later today of their Release 270 drivers. There are a few major updates in terms of features and performance enhancements that comes with these new drivers.

First, and perhaps most important, is the 270 drivers will now bring a new notification feature. It’s not an automatic update service in the purest sense, but will give users the information to know when new updates are available.

The second bit of info is that performance enhancements will be made on several games for the 400/500 series cards, most notably Dragon Age II, which is welcome news indeed given the shaky performance to date. However, there are also other performance improvements for CoD:Black Ops, HAWX 2, Metro 2033, and Just Cause 2. This comes on the heels of AMD’s Catalyst 11.4 release news, which touts several performance increases as well.

Lastly, the 3D Vision Controller driver is now included in all packages, rather than a separate installation, meaning an integrated installation.

Of course, this does mean the overall GeForce driver package size is now slightly increased, but the improved convenience and added features look to be a very welcomed addition.
