Officially the CPU clock speed was 6006.62MHz on a GIGABYTE GA-MA790FX-UD5P. The overclock was achieved through the use of a 26x multiplier, with the HTT only getting an increased to 231MHz. Information such as cooling type and voltages were not available. Nonetheless, the result is not only impressive but encouraging to AMD fans who are probably tired of constantly hearing “Core i7!!”

There have been some possible discrepancies noted for the screenshots, but so far have not proved to be problematic. The bottom line, however, is that despite the particulars, it appears that the chip did do the deed, and surely more details will come out. But the encouraging thing to note here is that it appears AMD is back in the overclocking game, offering some insane OC potential, and competition is always a good thing for consumers.

Corsair DDR2 running at 462MHz (1:2) with timings of 5-5-5-15 was used during the run.
