The MSI AM3 mainboards are optimized with the second-generation MSI DrMOS and APS (Active Phase Switching) technology. Both in high and low loading conditions MSI AM3 mainboards offer the highest power conversion efficiency and effectively reduce heat. Moreover, MSI adds some innovative overclocking features on its AM3 mainboards, such as OC Dial and MAX FSB.

True 5-Phase DrMOS & APS
To enhance the efficiency of the processor?s power supply, MSI 790FX-GD70 utilizes the improved AM3 processor with a true 5-phase DrMOS power design. This unique power design supports 140W quad-core processors, effectively reducing the system temperature and enhancing the power efficiency.
MSI also implements MSI?s exclusive APS (Active Phase Switching) technology, a BIOS-level power-saving technology which works OS independent. MSI APS does not only switch the phases of the CPU, but also of the chipset and memory. Recently Tom?s Hardware proved (in its P45 efficiency test) that both MSI DrMOS and APS really help to save power, unlike other solutions.

OC tools for experts and beginners
The experienced overclocker can boost the MSI 790FX to an extreme level with help of MSI OC Dial. The user can easy manually increase and decrease real-time the CPU clockspeed during overclocking or benchmarking with the OC dial on the mainboard.

For the inexperienced overclocker who wants to overclock the MSI 790FX-GD70 or MSI 790GX-G65 mainboard MSI developed the MAX FSB-function in the BIOS. All the user has to do is enter the BIOS and select the ?MAX FSB? option. Automatically it will find the maximum FSB value for the CPU.

MSI?s user friendly features
For a crystal clear Blu-ray sound both MSI 790FX-GD70 and MSI 790GX-G65 are equipped with ALC 889 HD Audio Codec and S/PDIF outputs. Also conveniently, MSI implements its Easy Button for resetting the BIOS or system without having to remove the mainboard?s battery.

Supporting ATI CrossFireX? and Hybrid CrossFireX? Technology
The MSI 790FX-GD70 supports 4x dual slot PCI-E 2.0 x16 cards, enabling 4 high-end graphics cards to work at the same time. The ATI CrossFireX? Technology enhances the 3D game performance, making the MSI 790FX-GD70 the best choice for gaming enthusiasts.

MSI 790GX-G65 onboard ATI Radeon? HD 3300 graphics chip offers a powerful 3D display that can support DirectX? 10, DVI, HDMI and D-Sub. For improved graphics performance, MSI 790GX-G65 is equipped with 1Gb DDR3 1333MHz SidePort Memory. If the user has another independent MSI R3400 series graphics card, he simply needs to enable the Hybrid CrossFireX? synergy function to enjoy improved graphics performances.
