Sapphire HD 4850 X2 reviews hit the web, finally
Here’s Pro-Clockers take on things:
The performance in which the Sapphire HD 4850 X2 is just what the doctor ordered. For about $400 you can have a card that is right up there with the big dogs like the Nvidia 280GTX and its big brother the HD 4870 X2. It is ideal for the gamers and enthusiants that want near-top performance for minimum cost and that is what the 4850 X2 is. I do foresee this model of card being one of the best sellers once it is offered by all retailers and etailers due to its huge preformance boost over any older cards like the 8800GTX, HD 3870 X2 and cards alike. The video card upgrade is now open for business.
We can mention all the wonderful features which this card may have that makes its performance so great but what is really wonderful about the HD 4850 X2 is its overclocking. We believe any extra performance numbers you get from a video card is great but when you are doing it on two cores and two sets of ram it is wonderful. We managed 690MHz on each of the cores and atleast 1183MHz on each group of ram sets for more promising numbers.
What you are not going to like about the 4850 X2 is the noise that is generated by the fans implemented on the card. Even with playing with the fan settings via the CCC noise was still a factor. Hopefully, we will see an in-house remedy for this or when some aftermarket coolers come out for the card.
