Radeon HD 4850 prices have gone down significantly since the card launched less than a month ago. On June 20, the cheapest 4850 we found cost $199 and came with a $30 mail-in rebate. Today, the cheapest U.S. model in our list is the Diamond 4850PE3512, which will only set you back $174.99 with free shipping at Newegg. TigerDirect actually prices the card at $169.99, but seems to charge at least $6.99 for shipping.

If you’re willing to deal with the hassle of a mail-in rebate, you can also grab a Sapphire 4850 for $149.99 after a $30 MIR. And up in Canada, NCIX is running a promotion that pegs the Diamond 4850 at $164.99 CAD.

For a card that outdoes the pricier GeForce 9800 GTX pretty much across the board, those deals are definitely attractive?and they confirm a trend of very aggressive pricing from AMD for this generation.
