Radeon HD 3800-series to be discontinued soon

We’re certain NVIDIA will do everything in its power to get back in the lead in the ~$200 segment, we’re just not sure how it will do that. In the mean time, AMD is planning on launching its lower-end models based on the RV730 and RV710 cores.

This is due this quarter, I.e. Q3. When the Radeon HD 4600 and 4400 series hits the market, the older Radeon HD 3000 series will phase out as they have reached EOL (End Of Life). There is little reason for AMD to keep the older chips alive when they will be able to fill all segments with the new cores, which are also mighty cheap to produce.
