Since last year, Display Port is getting hot and getting more attention in display market, compare to HDMI, it defines a new license-free and royalty-free, it should be the main point why it becomes so popular and maybe it will replace some of the HDMI market. The advantages of Display Port are not only the license-free also it based on micro-packet protocol and it supports a maximum of the 10.8 Gbit/s (and up) data rate and WQXGA(2560X1600) resolution over a 3 meter cable. Plus Display Port is also supports HDCP for the digital content copy-protection and may introduce a brand new DPCP (DisplayPort Content Protection System). Display Port is definitely the big competitor to HDMI.

In view of the Display Port will be the super star in the upcoming future, Dell has launched a monitor and fully support Display Port, and of course the graphics accelerators cannot only be the tracker. Last month Sapphire launched two AMD workstation graphics which support Display Port interface and they are ATI FireGL V7700 and ATI FireMV 2260, both of them are along with the new PCI-E 2.0 interface.
