Radeon HD 4000-series coolers pictured
Set to debut this summer, the Radeon HD 4800 series includes the HD 4850, 4870 and 4870 X2, all powered by the 55nm-built RV770. Just below you can see the recently-leaked photos of the cooling solutions used by the three upcoming cards with an added bonus being the cooler that will be placed on an RV730 card, likely named Radeon HD 3650.
As you can see, there’s nothing too radical and you can thank TSMC’s 55nm fab process for that. The 4870 X2 cooler looks similar to that found on its dual-GPU predecessor, the HD 3870 X2, while the Radeon HD 4850’s heatsink is the half-brother of the 3850’s cooler. The Radeon HD 4870 seems to have a dual-slot solution though.
