In order to provide the most stable environment for overclocking, MSI X48 Series comes with a revolutionary Dual-Channel PWM (PWM: Pulse Width Modulation; controlling analog circuits to provide a CPU’s power). The advanced design of two pairs shielded choke and MOSFET base on the basic 4-phase PWM provide the best convert rate of CPU power to make the highest power efficiency… The new MSI X48 Series is equipped with enhanced fanless cooling design Circu-Pipe and water-cooling revision in the future. The new Circu-Pipe provides the best cooling solution with its fin-typed heatsink around the heat-pipe, which reduces heat efficiently and saves more space. In addition, it resolves the heat generated by PCIe extender chip, providing the best total thermal solution for the whole system.

Of course, Yorkfield support and solid-state caps are also on the agenda. Retail dates and price tags are yet to be announced, though the first 1600MHz FSB CPU – the 3.2GHz QX9770 – is scheduled for launch in February or March alongside the recently delayed 1333MHz FSB Yorkfield chips.
