Compared to an Athlon 6000+, the 3.2GHz 6400+ offers a performance improvement of around 6.5% in office applications. Gaming tests also show positives with a +7.41% improvement in F.E.A.R and a +12.63% gain in Far Cry.

When up against a 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo E6750, the 6400+ runs out of steam. In F.E.A.R the E6750 performs 15.09% better, and naturally it gets worse when compared to an E6850. The Intel alternative outperformed the 6400+ by 30.59% in a 3Dmark 05 CPU test.

Those figures aside, the final instalment of the X2 series does offer a slight improvement over its predecessor, and that’s all we can really ask for…
