The source of the problem points to an error in the BIOS application process. Although no recall was in order, graphics cards makers have confirmed that updating the affected card’s BIOS will cure the problem. According to DigiTimes, only a small amount of cards made it into the consumer’s hands.

DigiTimes also noted that sources at Asus and Gigabyte revealed that they were shipping Nvidia and AMD-based cards at a 7:3 ratio in late 07, while today Nvidia have pulled ahead with an 8:2 shipping proportion.
