S3 to release DirectX 10 GPU’s by ’08

The third player in the GPU industry, S3, has reportedly announced that their DX10 Chrome 460 and 430 will be available by years end. To be manufactured by Fujitsu, the 430 will be built using older 90nm process technology and the 460 will apparently be 65nm.




AMD announce SSE5 for ‘Bulldozer’ in ’09

AMD today announced a new extension (PDF) to the X86 instruction set. SSE5 is "designed to allow software developers to simplify code and achieve greater efficiency." Features worth noting are FP16 and new instructions to move values within an XMM register.




Intel prepares 1600MHz FSB Xeons

Intel's latest roadmap has revealed three new 1600MHz FSB Xeons coming Q4 '07. The quad-core E5472 and E5462, and dual-core E5272, clock in at 3.0GHz, 2.8GHz and 3.4 GHz respectively and feature 80-watt thermal ratings.




Nvidia’s G92 set for launch on November 12th?

DigiTimes are reporting that Nvidia's mid-range G92 GPU is going to be launched on the 12th of November. To supposedly replace the 8800GTS the G92 is aimed at AMD's RV670 core, while the low-end G98 will take on the RV620.




Halo 3 goes Gold: on track for September release

Already the fastest selling pre-ordered video game in history, and well on track to smashing first day sales records, Bungie's Halo 3 has gone Gold and is on schedule for its September 25 launch.




First Vista service pack getting better and BETA in Q1

After guarding any info that could possibly be leaked about Vista's first service pack, Microsoft have finally stepped past the barricades and revealed that Vista service pack one will be available early next year.
