Core 2 Extreme QX6850 coming?
From the 2.93GHz QX6800, the only mentioned growth since its predecessor appears to be a 3GHz clock speed and a front side bus speed of 1333Mhz (The QX6800 runs on 1066Mhz).
Pricing details are still a bit blurry but sources claim the chip will sell at $999 USD and the existing QX6800 will be the victim of dramatic price drops.
Intel plans to boost the proportion of dual-core processors in its product lines to over 80% in the second quarter. However, with single-core Celeron processors still generating demand in the market, the company will keep 15% of its products as single-core processors in order to keep supply volumes normal and to keep pricing low to target emerging markets.
