...and just 15 days after 6.10 was released, the ATI driver team must?be preparing for?a long christmas holiday!
Some details have emerged regarding ATI’s X1900 series successor, R600. The first rumour is that the external memory controller will be 512 bit, which potentially could give it a major bandwidth advantage over the 8800 GTX’s 384 bit controller, especially as ATI have already supported GDDR4 in the past. Internally the RingBus memory controller gets a bit boost to 1024, double what was found on R580/X1900 series. Interestingly, it has come to light that ATI may once again be experiencing some sort of bug with early revision A0 R600 silicon. You’ll recall that a logic gate bug limiting the core frequency was the reason for the 6 month delay with R580. This time round the bug is causing issues with enabling multisampled AA.
