We’ve all heard of Razer right? They make the best gaming mice available, but they’re expanding into the creative world of audio with the release of the Barracuda IAS (integrated audio system) announced today at CeBIT.

Designed and engineered from the ground up by the Razer engineering team, the Razer Barracuda AC-1 and HP-1 are integrated as a single, pure gaming audio system ? the Razer Barracuda IAS is the world?s first integrated audio system built specifically for gaming.

There are two parts to IAS. You’ve got the AC-1 Gaming Audio Card featuring a 7.1 channel output, 24 bit?DAC,?with a rather high 117dB SNR, and the HP-1 Gaming Headphones?which have 8 (what the?) discrete speaker drivers in the headphones which have been tuned for optimal positional audio. HP-1 also has a high quality noise cancelling mic, as you’d expect.

Razer seem to be serious about this system and are looking to take on Creative head on. We’ll have to wait and see if they have the goods! No pricing as of yet.
