Microsoft to start testing online Office

Microsoft should start testing an online version of Office, in a reaction to the – so far – Web based services from Google and Yahoo. The company plans to offer a "beta" or general test version of Microsoft Office Live for free to help work out any potential problems prior to a commercial release later this year. Office Live should offers small businesses the ability to create and manage Web sites and maintain corporate e-mail accounts while working with the desktop versions of Microsoft Office such as Excel spreadsheets, Word documents and Outlook e-mail.

First online delivery of high-def movies starts today in the U.S.

The California based company MovieBeam starts offering today in the U.S. an online video-on-demand service of high-definition films. This is the first online delivery service of high-definition films in the country. The company plans to offer first-run films from six of the seven film studios in standard digital-video format and high-definition films from Disney and Warner Bros. studios. The service will initially be offered in 29 U.S. cities, including New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Users should be charged the same amount as they would if they were renting out from Blockbuster.
